Present: Sara Young (Cayuga County Planning Department), Jose Lozano (Tompkins County Water Resources Council), Tom Vawter (Wells College), Jim Malyj (Seneca County S&WCD), Linda Wagenet (Cornell Center for the Environment), Tom Pearson (NYSDEC Region 8), Steven Eidt (NYSDEC Region 7), John Roebig (EcoLogic), Tom Jasikoff (Montezuma NWR), David Zorn (G/FLRPC)

 

1. Planning for Technical Issues Session with Intermunicipal Organization
The following structure was considered for March 24, 1999 IO Meeting

  • General
  • Specific criteria
  • Top down vs. Bottom up
  • Different roles within the process
  • Regulatory process drives some of the process
  • Communication with IO on technical issues
  • Consideration of adding major dischargers to Cayuga Lake to Technical Committee such as:
  • NYSEG
    Cornell University
    Sewage districts/dischargers
    Agriculture
    Hampshire Chemical

2. Data Acquisition: The following data acquisition items were discussed:

  • NYSDEC (Cliff Calinan)
  • USGS (Bill Kappel)
  • Seneca County S&WCD (Jim Malyj)
  • NYSDEC Region 8 (Tom Pearson)
  • NYSDEC Region 7 – next RIBS year 2000
  • USGS (Bill Kappel)
  • NYSDEC (Cliff Callinan)
  • Fall Creek, Six Mile Creek (Cornell – contact Linda Wagnet)
  • STATSCO (G/FLRPC acquire)
  • Seneca County digitized (Jim Malji, S&WCD)
  • Tompkins, Cayuga, Tioga, Cortland working to gain digital soils
  • Species information
  • Nesting syrubal
  • Waterfowl and bird use data (water quality and maintenance for waterfowl)
